Check when your plan starts, then follow your phone's installation guide. Installation, enabling the line and validity starting may happen at different times.

Install before departure or after arrival?
It depends on your plan. Early installation is not always appropriate.
Check your order's validity-start rule first. If it is missing or unconfirmed, do not scan the code yet; check the plan or ask support. Turning an eSIM off does not pause validity once started.
Starts on first supported network connection
Prepare early; enable on arrival
If your plan allows early installation, use stable Wi-Fi before departure, then turn the travel eSIM off until you arrive.
Note: If your current or transit location is covered, automatic connection during installation may start validity. Delay installation if you want to avoid an early start; switching off afterwards is not enough. Observe the plan's installation and activation deadlines.
Starts on installation
Install close to when you need it
Installation starts validity, even before arrival or data use. Install close to use or after arrival with stable Wi-Fi.
Do not scan days in advance. Turning the line off after installation does not reset validity.
Starts on purchase
Choose your travel timing before buying
Validity starts when eSIM procurement is completed, rather than when you install or arrive. Buy close to use and follow the plan instructions.
Do not assume an uninstalled plan is refundable. These plans may have different restrictions.
A 30-day validity period does not necessarily mean you can wait 30 days to install. Installation deadlines, activation deadlines and usage validity are separate limits defined by the plan.

Prepare these five things
An eSIM-compatible, carrier-unlocked phone.Support can differ by sales region even for the same model. On iPhone, check Settings → General → About → Carrier Lock. For Android, check with the manufacturer and original carrier.
Stable Wi-Fi or a working hotspot.Installation downloads a profile. If installing on arrival, make sure your airport or accommodation has internet access.
Your order's QR code or manual installation details.Display the QR on a computer or another device for your phone to scan. If you have only one phone, use the manual installation guidance below.
Choose the phone you will use.Do not test-scan on another phone. Installation codes may limit devices and reinstallations.
Save your order link and keep your QR code private. These provide access to your eSIM or its installation. Do not share them publicly.
If you have not decided to keep the eSIM, or are testing refunds, do not install it. Viewing an order page is different from downloading an eSIM profile to a phone.

For a connection-start plan installed before departure, turn the travel eSIM off afterwards and keep mobile data on your existing line.
Do not choose Transfer From Nearby iPhone for this new eSIM. You do not need to delete your existing line.
System prompts such as Activate eSIM describe phone setup. Actual validity follows your plan’s rules.
Installing with only one iPhone?
On iOS 17.4 or later, open your order or private share link in Safari and choose “Install on this iPhone”. This opens the iPhone Add eSIM screen. If that option is unavailable, display the QR on another screen, hold the QR and choose Add eSIM, or enter the details manually.
Enter the order's SM-DP+ address and activation codeEnter each value in its own field. Do not paste the complete LPA string into the SM-DP+ field. If a confirmation code is required, use only the separately provided code; do not guess.

Only one phone and cannot scan its own QR?
If the scanning screen has a gallery option, select your order QR image; not all versions support this. Otherwise use another screen or manual entry. A single activation-code field uses the full installation string; separate fields use the corresponding individual details.

Use the travel eSIM for data, not your home line
Travel eSIMUse this line for mobile dataEnable line · Set roaming as instructed
Home lineData roaming: offTurn this line off if you do not need calls or texts
Automatic switching between data lines: off
Turn off airplane mode and enable the travel eSIM. If not yet installed, connect to Wi-Fi and follow the phone-specific steps.
Set mobile data to the travel eSIM. Enabling the line alone is not enough; select it as the data source.
Set travel-eSIM data roaming according to your plan. Roaming plans usually need it ON; Japan KDDI local-IP requires OFF. Check that you are changing the travel line.
Disable home-line data roaming and automatic data switching. Turn off the home line if not needed. If you need verification texts, check your home carrier's overseas services and charges first.
Wait for network registration, turn Wi-Fi off briefly and test a webpage. Working Wi-Fi does not prove the eSIM is connected. Turn Wi-Fi back on after confirming mobile data works.
iPhone
Settings → Cellular → Travel eSIM: enable this line and set data roaming as your plan requires.
Cellular → Cellular Data: select the travel line and disable Allow Cellular Data Switching.
Samsung
Settings → Connections → SIM manager: enable the travel eSIM and select it for mobile data.
Connections → Mobile networks: check data roaming. One UI versions may use shared or per-SIM controls; confirm the data SIM and disable data switching.
Pixel
Settings → Network & internet → SIMs: choose the travel eSIM, enable Use SIM, select it for mobile data and set roaming as instructed.
Disable Switch mobile data automatically or its equivalent; the label varies by version.
Disabling data roaming does not eliminate every possible home-line charge.
Calls, texts, Wi-Fi calling and overseas day passes still follow your home carrier's rules. Keeping a home line for texts is not necessarily free. Travel-eSIM and home-line charges are separate.
07 · Troubleshooting
Check settings before deleting your eSIM
No service or activating before arrival
Outside coverage, the eSIM may not register yet. Check that it appears in your SIM list. Do not repeatedly scan or delete it. Download failures and connection failures differ; keep the error message, check your internet and ask for help.
Arrived but still cannot connect
Confirm your destination is covered, validity has not expired and data remains.
Confirm the travel line is enabled, selected for data and has the required roaming setting.
Briefly toggle airplane mode or restart the phone, then wait for connection.
Try automatic network selection first. If selecting manually, choose only a supported partner network.
APN is usually configured automatically. Enter an APN only when the plan explicitly provides one; do not copy another SIM's settings.
If unresolved, send screenshots and order details to official support. Do not expose your QR or activation code publicly.
QR already used, invalid or accidentally deleted
Check whether the same eSIM is already installed. Codes may not be reusable, and reinstallation or transfer after deletion is not guaranteed. Check before paying again.
After your trip, new plans and refunds
Switch mobile data back to your home line, confirm it is enabled and turn off the unused travel line. Verify this even if the phone switches automatically.
If you need more data or time, purchase a new plan and follow the new order’s installation and activation instructions. Top-ups and validity extensions are not offered. Do not install a cancelled or refunded eSIM. Refund eligibility depends on the plan and installation/use status; refunds after installation are not guaranteed.
